Roskomnadzor Strongly Recommends Website Owners to Refrain from Using Cloudflare CDN Service
The Public Communications Network Monitoring and Management Center (PCNMMC) of Roskomnadzor has issued a strong recommendation for website owners to stop using the Cloudflare CDN service. This decision is due to Cloudflare's introduction of the TLS ECH (Encrypted Client Hello) extension, which facilitates bypassing restrictions on access to information prohibited in Russia, thus violating local legislation. As a result, users in Russia may encounter difficulties accessing certain resources.
Cloudflare, being one of the key providers of CDN and cybersecurity, enabled the use of TLS ECH by default, which led to the blocking of some of its functions in Russia. The PCNMMC emphasizes the importance of protection against cyberattacks and recommends switching to domestic CDN services capable of ensuring security and protection from DDoS attacks. The agency also reminded that the National DDoS Counteraction System (NDDCS) is available as an alternative for protection.
